The SWWA 9th annual Woodworker’s Challenge was the first to award a Best in Show. We had 44 projects entered, with 23 members entering projects. One member entered 5 projects, 2 entered 4, 4 entered 3, 4 entered 2, and 12 entered 1. Another great group of projects were shown in all seven categories – furniture, accessories, scrolled projects, turned projects, carved & sculpted projects, toys, and what-not!! Thanks to everyone who participated.
Best in Show – Terry Dote for his veneered side board
Furniture – 6 entries – 1st place to Terry Dote with with his jatoba and fiddleback maple veneered side board which he not only built but designed
Accessories – 10 entries – 1st place to Jason Wrench for another of his walnut & curly maple jewelry boxes
Turned Projects – 8 entries – 1st place to Greg Kubinyak for his cherry, splated birch, and ebony bird house
Carved & Sculpted Projects – 3 entries – 1st place to Jason Wrench for his cherry carved box with insert
Scrolled Projects – 5 entries – 1st place to John DeWane for his multi-layered dragon of orange washed red oak, black walnut, swiss pear, spalted birch, maple, spalted maple and holly
Toys – 6 entries – 1st place to Mike Shuron for his maple and walnut crane
What-Not – 7 entries – 1st place to Susan Allen for her 125 piece sugar shack picture
